Walk your talk, from opening to applause.

We’re delighted to invite you to speak at… To close this great discussion, we’d like to hear from… Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for… Speech! Speech! Speech!

What if you were the one being invited to give the talk of your life? Or to offer your knowledge and insight on a topic that matters? Or to share your inspirational story with a group of people who look up to you?

Would you get up to speak or run for your life?

Getting up to speak in public is hard for everyone at the best of times, but it’s an order of magnitude harder when your audience depends on you to give a good account of yourself. Do you get up to meet the moment no matter what, or do you let it slide because public speaking is not your thing?

Thankfully, and in truth, your options are not as stark. There is another way.

Our team has helped more than 300 people like you to step up to the TEDx stage in more than ten years.

Because of platforms like TEDx—TED’s wildly successful global spinoff of independently organised events—public speaking is now a thing. TEDx offers thousands of examples of great talks from which to learn, available free online. Many of these talks are given by people who share your goals: executives stirring excitement about new offerings, entrepreneurs presenting groundbreaking inventions, and activists starting unstoppable movements.

They say that some people are born leaders. But, we suspect, no one is born a great speaker. The best practitioners have all had to learn the craft in some way. With enough time, the right methods, and tons of hours of practice, we know that you can too.

Our team has helped more than 300 people like you to step up to the TEDx stage in more than ten years. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of working directly with the New York TED team, preparing speakers for the main stage at various TED events. Collectively, our speakers' talks have been watched more than ten million times on YouTube and TED.com.

After years of refining, we are excited to announce our first offering — a public speaking course that we’ve aptly named WalkYourTalk: Opening to Applause. This course is brought to you by the combined talents of Kelo Kubu (below, left) TEDxJohannesburg licensee and curator, and Ithateng Mokgoro (below, right), TEDxJohannesburg speaker coach and creative director.

WalkYourTalk is a virtual course that we deliver via Zoom in four weekly modules. The course blends the theoretical understanding of the art of effective public speaking with the practical skills needed to give great talks. We want to keep the course as intimate and interactive as possible. For that reason, we’re limiting the sessions to a manageable maximum of ten participants per instalment.

Each module unlocks the tools and frameworks that will help you deliver great talks, and do so again and again.

We share the thinking tools you can use to find a central idea and through-line to build your talk around. We share learnings on how to write your talk in the appropriate structure and style that matches your idea and audience. We walk you through the basic principles you need to design slides that effectively communicate your idea. And, to close off, we share the techniques you need to cope with the apprehension that we all experience when called upon to speak in public.

Sign up today. Learn how to give great talks, and how to do so again and again.
